Wage Increase for Metro Cebu takes Effect on August 3, 2018

DOLE is now focus on increasing productivity. Mandaue Chamber of Commerce said they respect the wage board’s decision. What is now important is to increase labor productivity.

Cebu Chamber of Commerce (CCCI) said they have to abide by the wage increase. CCCI’s board advocated for a P15 increase but the wage order issued a P20-increase.

According to CCCI, the big companies are complying with the minimum wage. It is not a problem for big businesses. The small and medium enterprises will be affected.

The wage order was a result of consensus not of voting, DOLE said as there was two labor representatives and one management representative.
